Ubisoft to Stop Charging for Some Kinds of DLC

As Ubisoft seeks to extend the life of its games with continued support for five to ten years after launch, the publisher will no longer charge for DLC that is inherent to the core experience.
“The key is if it’s not adding something on-top of the actual experience of the game, then it is no good. Because you’ll be asking for more money for the wrong reasons,” Ubisoft VP of live operations Anne Blondel-Jouin told GamesIndustry.biz.
“Also, if the content is compulsory for the gamers, it’s no good as well,” she added, likening the situation to an amusement park, where the entry fee grants you access to all the rides, but you have to pay extra for merchandise and food.
